Tradtional Marriage
Traditional Marriage is just that, Traditional. These traditions are usually based on
ideals from a culture, religion, or even a family. These performances adopted over
the course of years are lent authority from the amount of time they have been
practiced ("If it was good enough for my grandparents it's good enough for you.").
Unfortunately this has no bearing on our more direct
Purpose of Marriage which is defined
here.
Traditions in the ceremonies and marital practices should be respected and allowed as
long as they do not breach the marital contract referenced in our
Definition of Marriage. Since we are a world of culture,
religion, and families, no one can deny the right of another person to follow their
legal and lawful desires. Fortunately many countries are adopting these philosophies
into their Constitutions, Articles, & Charters.
So keep an open mind and do not let your opinions confuse you into thinking they should
be law for everyone. Leave that to capable lawmakers and if there are none, god save
us all.
